“Where do I start?” is usually the question that we get when we visit our sellers to help them get ready for photos. While the process may seem overwhelming, we start with 3 simple tips that are quick and easy.
Take down photos, prints, pictures, and shelving that you are taking with you to your next place. This may sound harsh, and, yes, you can keep a few pictures in some areas but, for the most part, grab a box, packing material, and start taking things down from your walls.
Touch up your paint. Grab that leftover paint in the basement and touch up your walls and baseboards. Sometimes you may have to paint a whole room if the paint is faded and there are obvious spots that need to be evened out.
Sell, donate, or relocate furniture that makes your room look smaller. This is a good opportunity to pare down your furnishings. You may decide that you won’t be taking a piece with you to your new place so donate or sell is an option. If you just can’t decide, then store it in the garage until you make a decision.
These small changes will help motivate you to adopt a mindset of “moving” and you will be able to make decisions for more painting, packing, and shedding some household items.
